Hey you! Are you looking for a strategic place to stay to enjoy one of the largest and most popular events in Rome?
Youth Station is the strategic and close hostel to peacefully experience the events of Rome, especially the famous and significant Rome Pride, which is dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community.
But before we get to the solution, let us open a mirror to this sensitive topic.
Why is the Roma Pride event important?
To come together in a common belief, which has any spiritual and moral root that respects the serenity of others, is very important for every individual, for this reason on the date of June 14, 2025 in Rome many people, also from all over the world, gather to demonstrate the daily social repression, united under one voice to claim their rights and to ask STOP to violence.
It is an important moment that gives visibility and strength of spirit to those who are unable to live their BEING in freedom and serenity in any part of the world.
When does the history of Pride begin?
The LGBT movement was officially born with the Stonewall riots of 1969 in New York, when the community rebelled against police persecution.
The real change began then! Shame turned into pride for the LGBT+ community and was so strong that it spread worldwide.
In Rome, the first Pride march dates back to 1994.
“Pride” is understood as self-respect.
Why do we still need to demonstrate for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community?
We often hear people say “It’s 2024 and yet it seems like we’re stuck in the Middle Ages”! This socio-cultural movement is actually linked to another historical movement, with more years of struggle behind it, namely the struggle for women’s rights. If before the struggle was to conquer them, today the struggle is to keep them written in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic. In fact, feminist movements are active in every Italian territory, precisely because the alarm is felt in the air. Here the struggle for women’s rights also includes the struggle for the LGBTQIA+ community.
But like any complex issue, we need to sit down and give ourselves time to thoroughly study every aspect of these social movements.
Unfortunately, one of the reasons to be eradicated at the root is ignorance towards these topics. To begin with, it would be appropriate to ask ourselves ‘but why does homosexuality exist’, because this question opens an infinite number of doors that help the conscience to take note of the phenomenon.
Many scientists have studied the dynamics of DNA and what external factors influence it to the point of leading the individual to make choices considered ‘strange’ by ‘normal’ people. So we also have scientific data that explain, for some they try, with reasoning the reasons why it is a completely natural phenomenon to change sexual orientation.
Open-mindedness is a great step forward for a society.
From Raffy to Lady
And speaking of open-mindedness, we want to remember the wonderful women-symbols of freedom who with their art have become a symbol of hope for this community: Raffaella Carrà, our Italian idol and the famous Lady Gaga.
In fact, if you come to the event on June 14, 2025 for the Roma Pride demonstration, you will not miss their songs.
The songs mark the steps of the march and make hearts beat in unison.
The lyrics are a hymn to the freedom to live one’s sexuality with joy, far from violence, discrimination, abuse. “Pedro”, “A far l’amore comincia tu”, “Fiesta”, “Tanti Auguri”, are Raffaella’s most loved songs and the most sung by the LGBT community.
Lady Gaga is a fundamental icon for the gay world for many reasons. With her music, she has always celebrated the uniqueness and authenticity of the human being, as in the famous anthem “Born This Way”.
Lady Gaga has been an active advocate for LGBT+ rights, campaigning and using her platform to raise awareness on sensitive issues.
Her foundation Born This Way Foundation promotes mental health and combats bullying, including issues that affect LGBT+ youth.
Art is a peaceful way to fight.
Their songs have the power to restore comfort and hope to the point of being considered eternal over time: even if one day the fight were to end with victory, these would be commemorated in the following years, because they accompanied thousands of people in the darkest moments.
The 2021 interview on ‘Che Tempo che fa with the American Super Star who said ‘I will never stop writing for you’ was touching!
